Characteristics of Ni MH battery

There are six main characteristics of Ni MH batteries: charging characteristics and discharge characteristics, showing the self discharge characteristics and long-term storage characteristics of storage characteristics, and showing a comprehensive cycle life and safety characteristics. They all depend on the structure of the battery, which is reflected in the environment. The notable feature is the great influence of temperature and current.

1, charging characteristics: when the charging current of Ni MH battery increases or decreases, the battery charging voltage will rise. In general, a constant current of no more than 1C is used at ambient temperature between 0 and 40, and a high charging efficiency can be obtained between 10 and 30 C.

If the battery is charged in a high temperature or low temperature environment, the performance of the battery will be reduced, and the charge control measures are necessary for the fast charging over 0.3C. Repeated overcharging will also reduce battery performance. Therefore, high and low temperature and high current charging protection measures must be in place.

2, discharge characteristics: the discharge platform of Ni MH battery is 1.2V. The larger the current and the lower the temperature, the discharge voltage and discharge efficiency of the battery will be reduced, and the maximum discharge current of the battery is 3C.

The discharge cut-off voltage of the battery is usually set at 0.9V, and the standard charge discharge mode of the IEC is set to 1.0V, because the stable current can also be provided below 1.0V, and a slightly smaller current can be provided below 0.9V. Therefore, the discharge cut-off voltage of the Ni MH battery can be considered as a voltage range of 0.9V~1.0V, some of the batteries. Then you can subscribe to 0.8V. Under normal circumstances, if the cut-off voltage is set too high, the battery capacity can not be fully utilized, otherwise, it is easy to cause battery over discharge.

3, self discharge characteristics: it refers to the loss of capacity when the battery is stored on the open circuit. The self discharge characteristics are mainly influenced by the temperature of the environment. The higher the temperature, the greater the capacity loss after the storage of the battery.

4, long-term storage characteristics: mainly refers to Ni MH battery power recovery capability. When used for a long time (such as one year), the capacity of the battery may be smaller than that before the storage, but after several cycles, the battery can be restored to the capacity before storage.

5, cycle life characteristics: the cycle life of Ni MH battery is affected by charging and discharging system, temperature and usage. In accordance with the charge and discharge of IEC standard, a full charge and discharge is the charging cycle of Ni MH battery, and the cycle life of the battery is made up, and the charge discharge cycle of Ni MH battery can exceed 500 times.

6, safety: the safety performance of Ni MH battery is better in the design of the battery, which is not only related to material materials used, but also closely related to its structure. In use, if the battery is not used properly to cause overcharge, overdischarge, short circuit, and the internal pressure of the battery increases, then a recoverable safety valve will open, which can reduce the internal pressure and prevent the battery explosion.
